Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is a campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd January 2015 to save the lives of countless girl children and empower them.
This social drive by the Government of India aimed to generate awareness and improve the overall efficiency of girl welfare service.
It was launched with an initial funding of 100 crore INR.
This scheme is a joint initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Woman and Child Development.
This campaign was initially focused in 100 districts of India where there is a declining child sex ratio (CSR).
On August 2016, Sakshi Malik who is an Olympics bronze medalist was made the brand ambassador of this social drive.
The main objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme are:
- Prevent the abortion of girl child in womb
- Ensure the survival and protection of girl child
- Ensure proper education and well being of girl

- More stringent and strict anti-dowry act
- Registration of all the marriages
- Prevention and abolition of child marriage
- Celebrate the birth of every girl child
- Emphasis for proper education of girl child
- Making the Zila Parishads to implement and monitor this campaign
The essential fact that has to be noted about this social drive is proper allotment of funds and implementation of schemes will not work wonder.
The laws need to be amended regularly and all the culprits should be properly punished.
All the people who are involved in the determination of sex determination and abortion of girl child must be rigorously punished.
Also the government needs to take some strict steps so that no doctor involve into this malpractice.

# The child sex ratio in India has always been on a constant decline with number of female in the country decreasing with every passing day.
This scheme is a powerful effort from the government to save the girl child and encourage for their education.
It promotes gender equality, protection of girl child and providing them with medical aid.
# A savings scheme under this social campaign by the name of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is introduced which is exclusive for the girl child.
The guardian of the girl will save money for them which can be used for their education and marriage.
There is no tax deduction from the maturity value.
# The scheme comes with a very good interest rate and the account withdrawal is only permitted to the girl child once she has attained the age of 18 years.
It is aimed at providing financial security to all the girls when they turn into adult.
The most highlighting factor about Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign is to make the entire country realize about the existing scenario of girl child and the status of their education.
It will not only empower the girl in continuing their studies but also help them tackle all the difficulties in life.
On International Day of Girl Child, the PM of India has announced to work in a proper manner for abolition of female foeticide by closing all doors of sex identification centers.
