It is a 3842 metres peak in the Mont Blanc of French Alps. This is the closest you can ever get to the summit of Mont Blanc without having to climb or hike. You should know that Aiguille du Midi is the highest mountain peak that is served by aerial lift system. If you translate the name in English, it means “Needle of the Mid-day” because it indicates noon when the sun passes over its summit.

It is actually a glass room with floor made up of glass. It is one of the last mountain rack rail trains of France and is the highest railway in Haute-Savoie department of France. The trains were named after the daughters of the owner in the year 1957 as Jeanne, Marie and Anne. Unfortunately the fourth train was never delivered.

In the year 1976, Leonard Gianadda who was an engineer discovered ancient ruins of a building when he was constructing a building. Gianadda’s brother Peter was killed in a plane crash shortly after this amazing discovery. So in the rememberance of his loving brother, he created a foundation at this place. At present, the foundation comprises of several permanent museums and a centre where temporary exhibitions are held round the year. Within the foundation is a sculpture park that you must visit. The Archaeological Walk is opened throughout the year and the amphitheatre can seat 5000 people easily.
